Black and White... and read all over.

Sometimes the stark black and whiteness of the Bible is scary...

We live in such a gray reality where something that may be ‘wrong’ over here isn’t really ‘wrong’ over there. It gets messy. It’s sometimes hard to differentiate how we, as Christians, should live. That is why God gave us such clear, defined instructions in His Word. It is imperative to learn what He says we should do.

As we study, the Holy Spirit reveals the meaning of the scripture to us… which is why the Bible is referred to as the Living Word. The scriptures are Gods way of showing us right from wrong. While we may not like being shown where we are wrong, God uses the scripture in such a way so that we will repent and grow from that experience.

Recently He has shown me how I have been wrong in some areas of my life. And as much as I want to, I can’t argue it. There it is. In black and white before me. God says to do it … and I haven’t been doing it. He shows me I’m wrong and it breaks my heart. But I remember that God does not reveal our sin to condemn us but to correct us. He lovingly reminded me of His grace and His mercy that are there for times like this.

It is my prayer that we all have willing hearts that will accept our wrongness, our human nature… our sin… for what it is. Remember His grace and thank Him for loving us as we are but loving us too much to leave us that way!

...that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water

with the word.

Ephesians 5:26
